I don't know if anyone else is watching this, but I just watched last nights and boy do I have a lot on my mind! Ok, so I am PROUD of Vinny for leaving, regardless of what Trump says. What people don't realize is that Trump doesn't care who he hurts along the way. I hope that people can realize that Vinny was TRYING to do the right thing. He got caught in a bad spot and he did what he could to fix it. EVERYone makes mistakes. It sucks that he was caught. How nice would it have been if the girls had won w/ Vinny on their side. Stupid Piers or whatever his name is. If Donald Trump understood integrity and honesty, he wouldn't have let things go down the way they did tonight.

So we tried to make some goopy stuff. I followed the directions and ended up w/ a combination gak/tapioca feeling stuff. The kids had fun, but I'd like to try again adjusting the instructions a little to see if it's smoother. The directions went like this:

boil 2 cups water
add 1/2 c cornstarch
stir
add food coloring
remove from heat
cool
place in plastic baggies or play w/ on the table.

This time I"m going to mix the cornstarch and water cold. Because cornstarch is UBER clumpy when added to boiling water.

I also bought some plaster of paris yesterday. Excited to try some of that stuff.

I've noticed that Xander LOVEs "projects" whether it's a worksheet printed out or a craft project. Then I realized I have 2 books here that I've hardly ever picked up... "365 Days of Creative Play" and "365 TV-Free Activities you can do with your child" I get a little overwhelmed w/ the amount of things in there and some of the materials required, so I just don't look at them, but now that I think about it, with 730 ideas, I might as well use SOME of them, right? So here are ones I'd like to try. If you've tried any, or would like more info, leave a comment and I'll respond. I'm always looking for input.

~Homemade Playdough (I've been planning on doing this since xander turned 2)
~Homemade Butter (I've done that before and just had so much fun, and for as much as my kids like butter, lol. Perhaps I should break out the breadmaker so they don't eat the butter plain)
~Handprint Plaques (where do you get plaster of paris? How much is it? is it easy to clean up, or do I need to wait till spring?)
~Dried Apple Snacks
~Is Xander too young to help me plant a couple veggies? I think maybe he'd eat them if he grows them....
~Cereal Balls (minus coconut
~Does anybody have the recipe to peanut butter playdough (the edible kind)? I remember making that when I babysat and it was SOOO yummy!

Ok, that's all for today *but that was only up to 200 in the first book, so more to come, I'm sure!

ok, so I've realized I have a problem. I jump into things w/ two feet, work feverishly at them, then get burned out. I think that's what happened w/ my sewing, my digital scrapbooking, and my parties. BUT here's the thing, something always sparks a renewed interest in it, so no fear. There will be (in no promised amount of time) more of all those to come. When I have an idea, I'll put it here to share. FOr right now, though, I wanted to show you a picture!

Las Vegas was great. We stayed in the Venetian and only left it once ( to see the fountains in front of the Bellagio). Anyway, it was a much MUCH needed break and I feel very blessed to have been able to go.

While I was gone, my kids grew! Juliana speaks SOOOO well and Xander is a little more polite than before (I say as his sister is screaming at him to give a box back that he took from her).

On Saturday, my nephew was baptized. Now I know this will only make sense to those who are LDS, but it's too funny not to tell. So after the baptism, while they were getting ready for the confirmation, I was explaining to Xander that this is when Austin gets the Holy Ghost to help him make good choices. Xander asked me, "are they going to open the door so the holy ghost can come in?" It was SOOO cute!!

You're as impulsive and impatient as a kid who can't wait for the cookies to come out of the oven. You treat life like a nonstop slumber party, and you like to keep things simple and silly. You scream at horror movies and laugh your butt off at comedies, but you probably can't sit still for a long, boring drama. To some people, you come across as immature, but so what? This kit was inspired by my son. On Saturday morning, my son woke up before the rest of us. No biggie, he does that a lot. Well, when my daughter woke up, she looked at her hand and started crying. We looked at it and first my husband thought it was dry blood, then I saw it and said, "no, honey, that's chocolate" Sure enough, while she slept, my son put a piece of chocolate into his sisters hand. It was cute that he shared, and I had fun with it!

Roger went to the Neurologist today. They have him a list of tests he needs to take. They said that spot could be a ton of different things, most encouraging of which would be that he was just born with it and it's nothing. Other options could be clots, MS, and other stuff. Now we just test away. Thank goodness for health insurance w/ caps on them!

Ok, so just one, but that's bad enough. I was sitting on my floor last night sewing a cute crocodile (ok, I had gotten frustrated w/ it and thrown it down) and then I saw it. Brown, furry, and big (compared to spiders, not rat-big). I FREAKED out- not exaggerating- jumped on my chair and bawled for 20 min. I was online to a friend who told me that for every mouse you see, there are 3 you don't. Anyway- QUICKLY the decision was made to get a cat (or 2). We meet one of the cats today to see how it does w/ our kids. (And to see if it's of a temperament to catch mice). We're not doing a kitten because I don't want to housetrain it.

On a happier note- tomorrow I'm organizing my craft space. THANK YOU to those who have sent me tips, ideas, and sketches, I can't WAIT!!!

Help Me! Help Me! I've been framed!

Ok, really I haven't, but I made frames for Freebies! But first, I need your help. I have no idea how to organize my craft area. So I would like your input.
The rules:
1) Budget must be total of $10 or UNDER
2) I must be able to do 50% of this by myself w/ tools no more complicated than a hammer, screwdriver, or measuring tape
Other things to know:
1) Some wood pieces. Mostly 2x4s, one old tabletop, fabric, hammer, nails, screwdriver
2)My dad does have woodcutting tools, it's just getting him to use them for me that might be a challenge.
3) We own the home, so built-ins are totally acceptable!
4) I'd *like* to keep the size to the corner of this room. However, if I need to move the TV over a foot and a half, that's fine.

Something New, and a Guest

K, for starters, the kit this week is by my more than generous friend Kristin Rose. Not only did she do this kit for me (as you can all tell I've been in a bit of a creative slump), she is also helping me make toys for some kids in my part of the country who might not otherwise get Christmas. On top of that, she has inspired me to be a better housekeeper, more fun mom, and has given me the confidence (not to mention inspiration) to start doing more creative things that I just assumed were too difficult for me.

With that being said, here's what we've been up to lately. Roger has his appt w/ the neurologist on Oct 30th, so until then we're just not going to worry. Before the MRI, the Dr. gave him a prescription for ibprofin- that, he said, has helped. If the neurologist doesn't find anything, we'll go to a chiropractor before spending another $300 on the next MRI.

Xander had strep throat earlier this week. As soon as he started taking medicine- wow. You would NEVER know that he had been sick, that child is bouncing off the walls lately! Our "issue" w/ him right now is he'll push his sister or yell at her then tell us, "She's not istening a me!" (She's not listening to me, for those not fluent in 3yo). We keep telling him that since he's not the dad or the mom, she doesn't HAVE to listen to him.

Juliana picks up on everything her brother does. We call her Miss Independent. She has to do EVERY thing herself. I suppose I should be grateful. She's even sleeping in a toddler bed now (for half the night, until she comes and lays on the mattress on our floor- which was our solution to getting no sleep w/ her in bed w/ us). She learns a LOT from her brother- too much most days, but together, they are so cute! HE can count to 10 and so she tries, "two, five, seben, four, seben." And he's helped her learn shapes, although instead of circle she goes, "round and round and round." He really is the best teacher to her. It's adorable!

As for me, I've been sewing like crazy. I made my first skirt the other day. In all honesty, it sucked. I didn't pick a very practical fabric to start with, but it was practicaly all I had. I'm bent on doing it again w/ cotton so it'll have a good turnout!

Red Porsche

Some background on this set.... I was visiting my mom (we lived in the same house for a while as adults, so I have LOTS of friends over there). Anyway, my sister was living there and all her kids had strep, so we didn't want to stay in the house since I have kids, too. So I took the kids to the library, but we still had like 3 hours before it was time to pick up Daddy. So I did what I used to do while I lived there- I dropped in unexpectedly at a few of my friends houses and said, "HEY! We're going to the park, you want to come?" I got 3 of my friends to bring their kids out and we had a lot of fun. Well, just before we left, another little girl and her dad came. One of my friends knew them (their kids were in the same kindergarten class). So she asked the dad, "Are you driving the Porsche today?" I lit up!! I asked his permission to take these pictures and he said yes. What a beautiful car. And this man was SO down to earth. He was telling us that this was his one splurge and anyway- he was totally cool about it. I probably could have gotten closer up pics sitting in it and he probably would have let me, but I was a complete stranger, so I didn't ask. So enjoy!

The Dr. Called....

Roger's doctor called last night. He said the ultrasound came back totally normal, there's nothing wrong there. He said on the MRI that there was one small spot they want to get checked out, so they're sending him to the neurologist. I'm not too worried about it (yet) because the Dr. said that the chances of it actually being something are pretty small. So why worry before I have to? right?

Thank you all for your kind words of support and especially for your prayers. They're certainly being heard and we have been blessed with some amazing peace the last few days. I'll let you all know when the appt for the neurologist is when we find out.

Pumpkin Papers (and mini-update)

This is SUPPOSED to be the freebie tonight, but my photoshop is doing it again and won't let me save as .jpgs. I've done it adobe's way and it's still not working, so tomorrow I have to uninstall it again and then re-install it. I even tried to save them as .pngs, but the files were too big to upload, so now you have to wait, but this is what you'll be getting tomorrow!!

Also, an update on my husband. We had the ultrasound and MRI today, but the hospital just told us that first a radiologist has to look at it and then they send the results to the Dr. (within 48 hrs) and then the Dr. calls us. So it might be monday before we hear anything. I *hope* we don't have to wait that long, or it's going to be a LOOOONG weekend.

So tomorrow my husband has to get an MRI on his head. Both his parents died of cancer, so this is a little scary for us. Roger is only 26, so it's not like we expected this anytime soon (to be getting the MRI). Here's hoping it's all stress!! Which it is- stressful- we have to ahve $300 up front. Here we go with $170. There is nothing else to take with us. If worse comes to worst, then I guess we'll put it on a credit card. It just sucks because we're trying SO hard to get OUT of debt. Anyway, to relieve my stress, and to anyone else who might be struggling, here is a "worry kit"

When I started this blog, it was for my friends and family to know what's been going on in my life. I'd like to combine these things. So this post isn't about scrapping, it's about ME! Ok, mostly about some cool new pictures I took that I just thought I'd share. They're very "artistic" I guess you could say. I've been having so much fun figuring out who I am and what I'm good at. I took obsidian dawn's tutorial and learned how to make brushes. Some are better than others, these are my first ones! They'll get better over time, I promise! Just remember that the cake topper on bridezilla is an altered brush originally done by KaliJean- I just added lots of other stuff to it.

Part 2 of the Dress- Up Kit

Perhaps the reason I can't finish my other kits is because this one just wasn't enough! So I finished this one today and now hopefully my brain (and my kids and my house and my hubby) will let me finish the other kits. I'm not very good at secrets, so I'll just tell you. One kit is a baby kit- I feel like I've been beating a dead horse w/ that one- but it's done, just needs to be put into the right formats. The second one is a BYU/UofU kit. So there will be 2 kits since none of the BYU fans would download it if it had any U of U in it and vice-versa.

however, space is filling up FAST on my 4shared account, so download what you can for free while you can. Once space is full, I'll be moving them to a store (then I'll have to take my link of DSP *tears*) but hopefully it'll impress you all enough to visit my shop.

The littlest things

This morning I woke up to my son rubbing his hand on my cheek- much like I do to him when I'm trying to get him to go to sleep. It was the sweetest thing! Then later, when Juliana woke up from her nap, we went into my room to see if maybe she'd fall asleep again (ok, to be honest I wanted to sleep). She was holding my hands and even though I am shocked at how fast she's growing and how much she learns every day, her hands seemed oh so tiny!! It was incredible!

So, my sister, for my birthday, got me Dish. I"m SO happy. Granted it's the basic of basics, but considering we can't even afford cable, it's heaven! I have an idea. How cool would it be, if you could pay per channel. Different channels would have different amounts. Like HBO and showtime could be $5 each, but basics could be like $1. Specialty channels like Lifetime and Food, $2-3, depending. Wouldn't that be cool? Then you pay just that much every month. Anyway, so if anybody who reads this knows a higher up in satellite companies- pitch it!
